My hair officially hates me. And I suppose the statment that Nothing will work for everyone is true...

I read about the no-poo method a couple of months ago, and, since I had slightly unmanagable hair, I decided to try it. Before, I had only been washing my hair once a week, because it is so thick and curly, it takes a long time to get dirty. Whenever it would get oily at the roots or start to smell (I work at subway and after a couple of hours everything smells like bread... much less after fourty hours a week, bread on bread on bread equals very smelly hair) would lightly use a homemade dry shampoo mix. I've been following it since then, and my hair has rejected it completly. Washing every 8 days or so, my hair has gone from slightly unmanagable to COMPLETLY unmanagable. I thought if I just stuck it out it would be fine, since I've heard some people have problems when they first start out. But it's only gotten worse. It seems like there's a residue on my hair that just won't come out, like someone poured candle wax in my hair. (I had a kid dump a candle on my head once, took FOREVER to get the wax out... >.>) Finally, I got out of the shower today and it was like my hair was screaming, "give me conditioner, or cut me off!" I couldn't even get my pick through my hair. After about fifteen minutes of that mess, I gave up, got back in the shower and conditioned my hair. My hair said "thank GOD" and I said "Dammit"...

I have no idea what I was doing wrong, if anything at all. I guess the no-poo method just doesn't work for everyone. It was quite a depressing defeat today...
