This is kinda long but pleaseee read it. I need help. I'm a dude. I have that shaggy haircut. It's wavy/ a little curly and thick. Which means it's also dry. Because of the dryness, I started reading around on the internet, trying to find something that would make my hair not dry. Lol. So i stumbled upon no-poo and it seemed really promising. So, I started trying a few different methods. Eventually I found that co-washing was the best way, with occasional bs/acv washes. My hair would be dry after washing it so I read that Biolage Conditioning Balm would help with dry hair, and its silicone free. I bought it and after using a few times, I loved it. It made my hair shiny and softer then it's been in years. So I used it quite a bit, every time i would co-wash my hair, and every time I would bs/acv rinse my hair.
My hair was great for a few weeks, till it started to smell a little. I noticed that it also looked a little greasy towards the top/back of my scalp. Figuring that it was probably just the "transition stage" I kept trucking on. After a few weeks though my hair was just bad. It felt gross. It looked bad. and the "greasy spot" was getting more noticable. I tried washing out the "greasyness" but it woulnd't come out and my hair started turning straight (remember, it's curly-wavy). Also, it was lying flat as if it had a lot of buildup.
Eventually I called it quits with the no-poo and went back to sulfate shampoos, hoping they could remove this. But no shampoo would remove the waxy-greasy spot. Like I said, it was only seen on the top part of my scalp- where a Jewish person would wear a yamaca.
It started getting worse and worse so I tried more extreme things. I washed with dish washing detergent several times. It would still be there, even the second I washed with dish-washing detergent. It wasn't like my hair was over-producing sebum. No, this stuff would be there the second I walked out of the shower after washing.
As bad as this sounds, I took a dull knife and scraped some of the stuff off my hair. What it looks like is little dust-like particles. It feels waxy and soft when dry, almost as if it's overconditoned. It makes my hair lie flat and straight. when I wash my hair with shampoo (and I have tried MANY harsh shampoos) it feels as if the hair in that area is stuck together, and gets VERY rough when it's being washed- it feels like sandpaper while washing it. NOTHING HAS WORKED. Please, please, someone help me. I reallly dont want to shave my head, but this shit is bad...
