I think I've actually been "no poo" for many years, in that I have always used plain bar soap. But I never seemed to get past needing a wash every 3-4 days. I was hoping that "no poo" would get me to the point where I never needed a wash (unless getting slimed or something).
Now I've been doing clay washes for about a month and a half. It's not very pleasant I must say...the feeling of applying it is akin to scraping your fingernails down a chalkboard. Rinsing it out is about the same...it never really comes out...and then my hair is left feeling gummy and probably looks even dirtier than I started with. The vinegar rinse seems to help, but even with a 50/50 dilution, applying it scalp to ends, I'm still having trouble.
I tried diluting the clay with more aloe vera. That left less gummy-ness, but my hair was oily within 2 days of that.
Are there some scalps that just keep producing oil no matter how long you no-poo??
