So a few days ago I used amla on my hair for the first time, and I loved it! I mixed up about half a packet with hot water, let it sit for about 10 minutes and then slapped it on my hair. Let it sit for a few minutes while I hopped in the shower and washed the rest of my body, then scrubbed my scalp with the amla on it, rinsed, and followed with a green/camomile tea mix.
While I was rinsing the amla, my hair felt terrible! It felt strawy and scary, and I thought I MUST have done something wrong! But after the tea it felt a bit better... just to make sure, I put some Dr Bronner leave-in conditioner in it after the shower and let it air dry.
The results!! I wish I had pictures. I absolutely loved it! I had read that amla brings out the curl, and it did! My hair, which is usually just wavy, was pretty curly, and not stupid kinky-curly, but really nice! And also CLEAN, even though it had been three days since the last bs wash. I think I'll be doing this once a week and bs once a week, and try not to wash more often than that. We'll see how that goes!
Now a question: on
www.hennaforhair.com I read that people mix their henna powder with lemon juice (instead of water, I guess?). Does anyone know why they do it, and what the effect of that is supposed to be? Really curious! =)
