currently i henna and no 'poo, but i'm not getting as maroon of a color as i would like, so i was wondering if i could add manic panic to me repertoire. (maybe do the manic panic between some of the hennaings? and then hopefully the henna would lock in the "temporary" haircolor?)
so i picked up a pot of manic panic. but the directions mention brushing it through til "frothy" that scares me. especially since i just recently had a bad experience with an experiment with soap nuts. :-( i'm slowly rebuilding my sebum on my length, and if the manic panic acts as a shampoo, i'll be very sad.
here are the ingredients on my pot. what do you think? is it shampooey?
should i try my experiment with pokeweed berries before i play with the manic panic? (i currently use ground up hibiscus flowers and cloves, but it's not enough)
ingredients: water, synthetic beeswax (i have no idea what it is. hopefully it's not petroleum based), cetearyl alcohol, ceteareth 20, humulus lupulus (hops) extract, achillea millefolium extract, anthemis nobilis extract, acetic acid, methylparaben, may contain: orange 4, red 33, blue 1, yellow 10, green 5.
i did some googling, and the synthetic beeswax might be paraffin? or PEG-40? i don't know. the fact that they didn't disclose what it is puts up a red flag for me. i'll contact them tomorrow.
especially since it seems to all just be a substrate for food colors. (i just so happen to have a 32 oz bottle of red food color. i think it's red 40. hmm. whaddya think? should i experiment? it's not exactly maroon, it's more brick than maroon, so i don't know.)
i also wonder what the hops, achillea and anthemis in the manic panic does for the color. have any clue?
