Terressentials

Well I finally got my order of Terressentials sample hair wash pack!  I got four 4 oz bottles of different scents - Sultry Spice, Fragrance Free (which still has some fragrance due to the herbal tinctures its made with), Lavender Garden and Cool Mint. The sample pack cost $17.95, there was a handling charge of $7.00, and shipping was $9.15, for a Grand Total of $34.10 (Holy ....!) Quite an expensive little experiment I'm trying out, here.

Anyway, I wanted to post my thoughts and results for anyone else who might be interested in Terressentials, or in possibly making their own version of it at home.

This morning I used the Sultry Spice to wash my hair with. I had to shake the bottle up (as per the instructions) and then it says to use a teaspoon for short hair or a tablespoon or more for longer hair. I have shoulder length hair and used probably a tablespoon. It looks like chocolate pudding and has the same type of consistancy. I rubbed it on my hands and proceeded to work it through my wet hair. It felt really good, massaging the "mud" into my hair and scalp. I could feel the oils (Cedarwood Atlas, Patchouli, Lavender, Sweet Orange, Petitgrain, Cinnamon Leaf, Pine Needle, and Vanilla) tingling a bit. Then I rinsed it out. I could comb through my wet hair with my fingers, which I'd never been able to do before. The instructions say that if it is your first time using Terressentials hair wash to wash it again one or two more times, in order to get your hair through the detox period. Since I haven't used regular shampoo for a while, I decided to wash again, just to be on the safe side, but opted not to wash it a third time. I could still comb through my hair with my fingers, and my wet hair felt... Not conditioned like you'd have with commercial regular conditioner, but... A different type of condition.

I combed through it with my wooden comb. It was easy! No snags at all. I did notice tiny, white flakes, something I haven't seen before, but I assume that it's just my scalp getting used to not having the white vinegar rinse. After my hair dried I didn't have any flakes at all.

My hair has been dry for a few hours now, and my hair looks and feels amazing! It's glossy and shiny, it feels thick and healthy (and I have thin hair most the time) I can't stop touching it. I'm constantly petting my hair. And my colour seems to be enhanced, like it's the same colour, only richer in hue. Also, the scent is nice. I'm not a big fan of Patchouli, but smelling it in my hair just makes me feel uplifted and sensual at the same time. I assume the uplifting part is from the Sweet Orange oil in the mud.

I had been using baking soda and white vinegar to wash my hair. It leaves it clean, but that's about it. It doesn't have a lot of shine or bounce... It's just hair.

So overall, I really love the Terressentials. However, I don't love the cost. For the amount that you get, the cost is just... A bit excessive. I really want to try to make my own at home. I'm going to look into where to get the different ingredients and see what I can come up with before I run out of my samples. Anyone know where I can get Moroccan clay?

I'll continue posting updates as I try the other "flavours".

hair is thicker than before, clay hair mask/wash, dull hair is now shiny hair, hair types - fine and straight
