When I started no 'poo, my goal was to go water only. I weaned myself onto shampooing once a week. Then I came home from college and discovered that the swamp bugs love unwashed hair. I'm not that dedicated! I was going to try baking soda, but then my mother talked me into dying my hair and I hear baking soda can strip the dye. So I started washing with shampoo every three days. Before all this, I used to wash every day.
Now I've developed an acne problem along my hairline. It's spreading onto my cheeks where the hair touches them. I've always had bad acne, but for some reason it's very well confined to my t-zone and rosacea rash. Now the skin that always used to be clear looks horrible. I may be cutting my hair very short before school, but if I don't, what can I use besides baking soda to get rid of the oils that cause my acne? I know the philosophy behind no 'poo is to use your natural oils, but I'm thinking this might be a bad idea for me. Should I try making my own shampoo (at least I'll be using a more natural product), or is there a no 'poo method that might do the trick?
