this sounds like a job for alpha_angel. :-)
i'll see if i can go poke her.
back when i was using the BS, it felt like it was becoming soapy, but now that you mention it, that feeling was also what i remember "soft water" feeling like. so i have no idea.

maybe with the relatively small amount of fatty acids on our heads combined with the mild alkaline BS solution, all it needs is the heat from our heads and the heat/agitation from our fingers.

i think my scalp is sensitive to alkalines. even with my full strength ACV, i'd get flakes after using the 1:16 BS solution. i think it's just that brief encounter with the alkaline that affects it, and no amount of acid will reverse it. i really don't want to try the paste. *cringes* i can see it now. *shudder* i'm also concerned about lightening. so i'd really like to stay away from BS altogether. or at least for months at a time.

and i know. i wish i would have scrubbed my length with it to get the nutmeggy scent throughout. next shower definitely. mmmmmmmm.
i bought the same sized jar last year when i was on this pumpkin muffin kick. haha!

heh. thanks. :-) it's all due to henna though. my natural color is a mousey greyish blonde. ech.

so-far the lightening has happened to those who have golden/flaxen attributes to their hair. the BS makes it dull and dingy, taking all the gold away. i've noticed it had taken the golden parts of my henna'ed hair away. the parts below my ears are no-longer as deep and complex as the way it was in the icon. :-( even with continued henna usage. the new growth seems darker and able to hold the henna longer.

my husband on the other hand has black hair and has had no problems with the BS whatsoever.

i wasn't using a scrub when i was BSing. but if scrub + ACV ends up working well, there'll be no need for me to use BS anyway. the ACV only was working really well, no scaling, but it felt gunky and itchy. today it feels wonderful. no itch, nice and clear. i'm excited.

i'm curious. do you use mostly olive oil.

ok. i'm back. again, sorry 'bout the weird question. i looked at the clock, saw that i had to get a move on and then the composition flew out of my head.

i see your new post, but i'll just keep this olive oil reply here instead of posting it in the other one.

i was wondering if the baking soda wasn't working on your pots because of olive oil, but since you don't heat it, that's a moot point.

if you click on the olive oil tag, you'll see a bunch of folks who have had a horrible time trying to wash it out of their hair (other oils seem to not have that effect) i was thinking that might have been the problem with your pots, but i guess not.
