Ok, i'll admit it - i've been off the wagon. I'm so sorry, but BS gave me dandruff from hell and ACV gives me greasies, WV makes my dandruff worse, sea salt doesn't clean my hair and i tried a tea rinse that made my hair smell like clothes that have been left in the washing machine too long.
I've been using the reincarnate shampoo bar from Lush and trying to live as no 'poo as i can while still being, you know, 'poo. The bar means that I can really limit how much shampoo goes on my hair so i'm not using more evil chemicals than necessary, so it doesn't murder my hair/scalp, and i'm down to doing a 'poo wash (hehe) once a week, with water only in between. Not that i only need one wash a week - hair is up for at least four days on that, but very shiny (in an oilslick sorta way) and straight and manageable, and when the shampoo hits it on saturdays it turns to silk, it's lovely. I'm beginning to see that the 100g bar i got in april is never going to get used up at this rate, which is economical at least, but i want to get back to the nice happy hair things.
Soooooo on to my questions.
I picked up an olive oil soap bar in a health food shop. It was cheap, so cheap, cheaper than I could do if i made it myself i think, and i like big things - 500g for £1.86. It's a brick. i could build a very clean house from a few of them. Ingredients are: saponified olive oil, water, mineral salts. Yeay! So. Actually on to the questions now.
1)Has anyone ever used olive oil soap on their hair? Was it any good? People who make their own, does this sound like what you make?
2) What's the ingredient in soap that causes soap scum? I'm in a hard water free country, so it shouldn't be in issue i believe - correct me if i'm wrong - but i'm curious for the future.
3) If i want to add things to it, like henna or rosemary or whatever, should i be able just to melt it down, add the stuffs and stick it in a mould til it re-sets?
Thanks and sorry for the rambling. I wish you all hair nirvana.
fell off the wagon,
