Surprise (4/28 - 4/31) Out of Town

Apr 28, 2006 12:33

Friday afternoon and it was time for Kadaj's present, the one he'd given him the camera phone for.

Hoping he'll like the time away and especially where they're staying. Tim grabs his bag for the weekend and heads over to Kadaj's. He's got the Redbird, Kadaj will probably want to pack some stuff too and a car is better for holding everything than a ( Read more... )

She was a weird bird and Kadaj found himself in turns smiling and backing up from her. He was almost worried she was going to hug him or something.

Soon they escaped to the outdoors and taking a walk along a path that circled around the lake. Not in any particular hurry, Kadaj reached out for Tim's hand and held it, thinking it felt like the most natural thing in the world to do.

He was silent, listening to the gentle sounds of nature and finding that he was missing something. Stopping in his tracks, he dropped Tim's hand to turn in tight circle, trying to place what seemed out of sorts.

When Kadaj stops, Tim stops also, looking around for what could have possibly set Kadaj off. He can't see anything, can't hear anything, but that doesn't mean it isn't there.

"Kadaj," he whispers not wanting to make to much noise in case there's something or someone dangerous out there, "what is it?"

At first, he couldn't place what was off and he shook his head. As he stood there, the unease grew until he finally realized what was missing.

Standing there, in the middle of the wild things, Kadaj smiled and looked at Tim. "Do you hear it? There's no background noise. You know? The constant hum of the city, always in the background, you always hear it, cars moving, mechanical equipment humming...it's not there. It's...quiet."

Tim likes to think of himself as a city boy, prides himself on being Gotham born and raised, but compared to Kadaj, it's probably not true. He'd spent almost a year at Brentwood, in Gotham County, and he'd travelled during his training. Not to mention Wayne Manor was more than slightly out of the way of the city.

But he supposes it would be strange for Kadaj, if he'd lived in cities all his life, "Have you never been out of the City?" he asks, "Or, a City rather, back home? Where you came from."

He took Tim's hand again and started walking. "Yeah. Sometimes. Where we stayed quite a bit was...out away from the city. I mean, this isn't a big deal," Kadaj smiled and shrugged. "It was just something I noticed. We've been living in Tropolis for five months now, so I just noticed there's no background noise out here."

"It is one of those things you get used to I guess," he replies, "constant noise, always being aware of people all around you," he looks over to Kadaj, "here it really is just us, you know?"

"So you stayed somewhere like this, with woods and stuff? You just don't know how to swim."

"Yeah. It was pretty. So different. The trees were...brilliant," Kadaj looked around at their surroundings and for a brief moment, it seemed like he was imagining he was back there.

He shrugged, directing his gaze down at the rude path they were walking along. "I never needed to learn to swim." Smiling, he squeezed Tim's hand. "But you'll show me."

"I kind of think I'd like to see it," he says, stepping over a fallen log, "Your world, where you come from, how it's different than mine. Some of the things you describe, they sound pretty bad, but then... you describe something like brilliant trees and I can't even fathom what you're talking about. It makes me want to see it, firsthand."

"I'd like to take you there." Kadaj shrugged and swung their hands. "If I could get us home, I would. I can't."

He was silent for a beat. "Well, I could but there'd be no guarantees we'd be in the right place or anything. Too many variables and not enough assurances."

Walking with Kadaj, clasped hands swinging between them, in the forest, it's kind of like something out of a Disney movie and it's so Kadaj. Tim can't help but smile.

"So you just don't go back?" he asks, "There's no one you three miss and nothing you need to do there?"

It occurs to him he doesn't know what made Kadaj come to Tropolis, or rather, he doesn't know why he came to FandomTown, the island.

"No. I have something very important to do back home," Kadaj said quietly. His thoughts went to Mother and how he must look to her, failing her so miserably. No wonder she hadn't talked to him in weeks.

He wasn't a very good son.

"We came to this planet by accident, not sure how we got here. One minute we were in a tunnel on our bikes, next, we were outside FandomTown." He looked at Tim from beneath this bangs. "So I can't take the chance yet to try to get home in case I screw it up. Too much riding on me getting it right the first time."

"but you are going back?" he asks. And of course he is, Tim's going back someday too right? People's lives didn't just stop because they... because they were with some one.

Though, from what Kadaj had said about his world... it could maybe use some one that did his kind of work, maybe.

"Eventually," Kadaj said after a long moment of thought. Truthfully, the thought of leaving Tim behind was a source of conflict with him. Something he didn't like dwelling on.

He shrugged and gave Tim a shy smile beneath his bangs. "But not today. Too bad sex outside, while a romantic notion, fails to mention the bugs and the grit and the grass and roots in your back." Stopping again, he used his hold on Tim's hand to pull the boy back around and against him, kissing Tim suddenly in a hungry attach of his mouth to Tim's.

He opens to Kadaj, pulled close against him and feeling completely surrounded by the kiss. Kadaj's mouth tasting familiar and right and he isn't going away now, he even said.

"Would you want to have sex out here?" he asks when they pull away, affecting an innocent look, "I mean anyone could see us."

"Why not?" Kaday said playfully, nipping at Tim's lower lip. "It's not like we've passed a soul since we started walking and we can find some place private."

He nipped again, lingering on Tim's lip, sucking it in gently and letting his tongue play over the slick skin before he kissed Tim right, slower but no less hungry.

Letting Kadaj play, letting him explore, it's exactly why they're here. And he wants Kadaj to want him, always does, but it never ceases to make him hot when Kadaj talks about it.

So he wraps his arms around Kadaj, enjoying the slow, hungry kisses that make him feel skin hungry all the time.

"I'd let you," he says between kises, :You know that right?"
