[Unlocking it, he opens the door a crack and peers out, then opens it fully when he sees that it's just his sister.] I don't have to brace myself for a lecture, do I?
You sounded like a complete idiot last night. How stoned were you? [Ana narrowed her eyes at him for a moment, giving him her best mom impression.] You really have no filter between your mouth and your brain while you're stoned, huh?
[He frowned.] Of course I have a filter. I didn't say anything important, after all. [He moved back to let her in.] But I was very... It was an experiment. [Sort of. It was easier to think of it that way.]
Uh huh. Getting stoned with your girlfriend was an "experiment." [Ana grinned at him, and her fingers actually hooked into little quotation marks when she said experiment. The look of amusement lingered on her face until she was inside his room when it abruptly tumbled off once the door shut.]
So I have a new warden, [She began.] and she's going to be reading my private and filtered posts.
Argh, IDK if gmail's slow or if notifs are downstopthat_destroJune 17 2010, 17:03:04 UTC
Seeing as I've never indulged in recreational drug use before... Yes. [It wasn't as though that type of experimentation was uncommon, and while Rex often prided himself on being anything but common, the fact was that Wichita often offered him a chance to break his own mould. He enjoyed it on occasion, particularly now that he was sort of... 'finding himself' in the wake of some things that had happened on the Barge.]
That's... unfortunate. I'll remove you from all filters, then. Sensitive information shouldn't be traded over the journals, anyway. [He shrugged a little.] What can you tell me about her?
So, what did you think? [Ana had been (mostly) normal, so she had gotten all of her experimenting out during her college career, which meant that she had done recreational drugs and everything else one normally did in college. Still, she worried that Rex might decide to be come a pot head, which she didn't need because well.. there was already Neil aboard the barge. However, she doubted he'd want to be out of control that much.
Ana frowned at the mention of being removed from the filters. That was something she knew had to happen and at the same time she sure didn't want to have happen.]
She's Uhura from Star Trek; she's dating Spock and I think I unsettle her a bit. And she's graduated someone before.
[When he asked her if she wanted to graduate, Ana just scoffed quickly.] What the hell do you think? I need to talk to Paddy about her methods, I think. I'm pissed she's monitoring my communications. She's very fixated on how like a prison this is meant to be.
He may not reveal much... [He walked over to his work table and began to extract some fancy new nanomite solution into a syringe. When he spoke again, his voice had a mocking edge to it.] He's turned over a new leaf, after all.
[After a moment's musing:] Hm. I suppose I should be grateful for Harper's... laissez faire methods. [He gave Ana a sidelong glance.] By the way, have the wardens spoken with you much about Arthas yet?
{Ana nodded when Rex said that he may not reveal much, but there was a little smirk on her face.] I might be able to convince him that I need a little help with how best to go about this. Who knows, though. I'm going to have to try. I'll probably... [There was a quick frown.] Damn, I'm going to need her permission to go into the pub even.
[This annoyed Ana a lot, but not as much as the private message. When he asked about Arthas, Ana shrugged.] Inara did, and Karrin Murphy asked me some questions but then stopped. I assume considering he attacked a warden and kept him tied up people had bigger problems. I'm going to figure out how to kill him though.
[She ruffled his hair.] So, boy genius, is there anyway you could rig something so I can get messages without using James's communicator to?
Of course. [He clicked his tongue, some bitterness in his voice.] An attack on a warden is always top priority.
[He smiled, then ducked away from her hand.] A sophisticated proxy should do the trick. [He made a face, thinking.] But I don't know how Wardens are able to intercept messages in the first place. I mean... the programming behind it. [It can't just be MAGIC, after all. He began to drum his fingers on the table, softly.] I could attempt to take a communicator and clone it onto your laptop...
Apparently so. [Ana shrugged a bit.] I suspect that Uhura will take care of it if something happens. She seems to be one of those bleeding heart sorts. I do love how they're supposed to be all about taking care of inmates and yet they just drop the ball everywhere. Maybe something to consider with everything.
[Everything of course seemed to have slipped a bit off the radar in response to everything else. When he mentioned being able to do it, Ana grinned.] I knew you would be able to do something with it. We'll do some testing posts to see if it works after; I'm not going to let this woman ruin everything with her nosiness.
[He nodded.] Of course, in order to build trust, you'll still have to use your actual journal for the majority of your communications. She'll grow suspicious otherwise.
[Ana rolled her eyes quickly.] Of course, I know that. You know I actually am pretty damn good at my job, Rex. I'm not going to let a stupid mistake screw you two over; I'd fall on my sword before that. [There was a smirk at her words; she'd sell the rest of the people involved out, but she'd keep Rex and James's name out of it.]
I told Uhura that she could always be certain of one thing: that I love you and James; it'll be interesting to see what she does with that.
She could try. I figured it was best to get it out of the way rather than sneaking around with it. And this way I don't need to hide when I'm with you or with James. Much easier. [There was something very feline in her smile.] Besides, it's no fun playing a rigged game; need to give her a little bit of a bone.

[He looked at her, then glanced back down at his work before his face could show any emotion.] She could try to use that to her advantage.
