[And a few minutes later, there was a knock at Rex's door.]

[Rex was feeling mighty suspicious when he opened the door, considering every recent conversation with Ana had been an explosion of confusion, to say the least.]

[Ana smiled at him, and then she shrugged.]

You were right, I've been being a passive-aggressive bitch. I'm sorry. Let me in?

[He blinked, as that was unexpected (but certainly not unwelcome), then moved back to let his sister in.]

Well, I wouldn't use those words, exactly. Come in.

[Ana took a step inside and then smiled at him when the door was shit behind her.]

I would. I let this place get inside my head and it made me act incredibly stupidly. I owe you and James an apology. I wasn't like myself.

[He nodded, understanding all too well what she'd been going through, now that she put it like that.]

It happens... James appears to be the only one who's been immune, so far. Or, rather, [He paused awkwardly.] he was.

He'll be back and we'll be okay. How are you? I don't think I was gone for very long, but you know time here.

You weren't. A little under a week. [Rex walked back to his snakes, one of which he was preparing to feed. He grabbed one of the smaller mice from the cage and opened the top of Alexander's terrarium.] Oh, fine, perfectly fine. [He dropped the mouse in, wrinkling his nose.] Aside from the part where I inexplicably became a woman for a few days.

[Ana nodded, processing the information. It had been long enough, she decided, to set things straight. She grinned and watched him as he fed the mice. She wanted a snake maybe. Something like it.]

Did I miss another flood after the one that made people last like idiots? [She frowned quickly, mentally counting off the calendar in her head.] It's weird that two should happen so closely together.

I thought it was... [He shook his head and turned to look at her.] But it appeared to be an anomaly specifically designed to inconvenience me and Harper. We went to the CES, it turned us into women-- in dresses-- and then we returned to normal when we left. What, besides a flood, could possibly cause something like that?

Dresses? What kind of dresses? [Ana was grinning picturing it. Thanks to the genderswap flood, Ana had a pretty good idea of how he and Harper would look and it was rather hysterical. The laughter was implicit in her tone] Only you two would end up with that as your own personal flood, Rex.

I don't know. Prom dresses. With hoop skirts. [He snorted.] It was ridiculous.

[HSSSSSS. Rex twitched.] I wouldn't go that far, Ana.

[But she was totally right, and so it was time to change the subject before he was embarrassed further.]

Where did you go?

[Which meant that she was totally and completely right and she smirked at him for a moment. When he asked her where she went, Ana frowned for a moment and shrugged.]

I'm not entirely sure, really. It felt like I was there for a long time but it wasn't the Joe Barge. But I'm glad I went. I needed it.
