Nation: Reino de España (The Kingdom of Spain)

Name: Antonio Fernandez Carriedo
Nickname: Toni
Age: 27
Date of birth: February 12th, 1983
Hometown: Madrid, Spain
Occupation: Host at Dos Llamas and Cashier at the local Grocery Store
Residence: Lives at the Vargas Mansion with Romano, and some of Roma's old servants
Family: Oldest of seven brothers and sisters; lived in Spain with his siblings, parents, and grandparents. He also has a cousin (Portugal).

First Impression: "What do you mean 'on the bright side'?! This is the worst day of my life, and how can anyone be this happy?!"

1: The first thing anyone will notice about Antonio is his refreshingly sweet personality and unfazed optimism through even the cloudiest days. It's as if he carries the sunshine on his shoulder, though it seems to pale in comparison to his smiles. He's, in a simple word, "nice", but often annoyingly so. As a result of his cheerful demeanor and incessant need to smile, his intelligence visually suffers in the eye of the beholder. It's not to say that he's an idiot - which is only partly true - just that it's in his nature to see the brighter side of things and even of people who have done terrible things to him. He's incapable of harboring grudges unless it involves the suffering of his friends, who he thinks very fondly of. Any hindrance in his pride or cheerfulness can be solved with a siesta~

2: Apart from his happy-go-lucky conduct, Antonio is also very generous in his practices. He would give the shirt off of his back or the last dollar in his pocket to help out anyone less fortunate than he is. This might also be the reason why he never has money when he needs it. The tips he receives from the nice, pretty patrons at Dos Llamas are usually half gone by the time he reaches home.

3: Antonio comes from a very religious background: namely, Catholicism, and that is to say that his family is very invested in their faith and all of the guilt that comes with it. Antonio has yet to declare to his family that he is engaged to a person of the same gender, as that would bring shame to the Carriedo name, and according to the Catechism, send him to the deepest ring in Hell. It brings him no such guilt to know that the object of his unbounded affections is male.

4: And the lucky (read: unfortunate) man that is to be his lawfully wedded husband: Romano Vargas, his sun, moon, stars, and churros. Affectionately dubbed "Lovi", he showers his fiancee with every ounce of affection left in his breath. It's a wonder why he does it, however, because of the verbal abuse and bittersweet adoration he receives in return. Often times Antonio has the grace to think the best of Romano's intentions, but there are a few instances when he wonders if Lovi actually wants to be with him. Nevertheless, he will continue his loving behavior and look forward to the day when the Italian shares his last name.

5: But that isn't to say that he doesn't find women attractive, because the charming, sensitive romantic that Antonio is attracts women like flies to honey. He is the fictional boyfriend of every romantic novel, incessantly so: he buys his girlfriends flowers, serenades her with his guitar, cooks for her, and pays for every four-star dinner date - however, he never seems to get past this stage. With such a stagnant relationship and vases never filled with dead flowers, Antonio later finds himself single within a few weeks of the first date. He's never broken up with a girl, but the opposite is true. Every relationship, to him, is the relationship.

6: Why waste money when you can do it yourself? And this isn't just because Antonio has very little money to spend in the first place, but also because he loves to be self-sufficient. Forget washing machines and driers, Antonio washes his clothes in the sink and hangs them to dry from a clothesline. He grows his own produce in the backyard - an entire section is devoted to Tomatoes; if the sink breaks, or the fence splinters, or the furniture rips, he will fix it. Even if the project fails horrifically, he will try and try again, and then ask for help.

7: Despite his inability to "read the atmosphere", he excels academically. He might be a little rusty after taking off a few years after High School to save up - and moving to America definitely did not help him financially! - but his high academic records prove that this Spaniard is only dim-witted in social situations. He's currently taking a few classes at Liberty University, but only the few that he can afford. Roma Vargas offered financial help, but Antonio refused it, feeling that the assistance was too much to accept.

8: Fútbol. ¡Fútbol! Antonio loves Fútbol, and not just watching Spain beat everyone in the World cup it on TV, but playing it. He was an avid player, having been on the Varsity team all four years of High School, but the time spent napping doing classwork and with Romano working two jobs at the popular authentic Mexican restaurant Dos Llamas and at the Neighborhood Grocery store as a clerk keeps him from the fields. He brags that he can juggle the ball over seventy times, and can still do without months of rigorous practice.

9: Why waste your time playing World of Duty or Call of Warcraft? Any spare moment Antonio has to himself, he will retreat to his bedroom or to the nearest comfortable sofa and take a nice nap. He is almost never tired, even when rising at the early hours of the morning and never fails to wake up in time to witness the sunrise.

10: Antonio loves children, being the oldest of seven brothers and sisters. He seems to have the kind of face that children trust unconditionally, but also the kind that parents seem wary of. In other words, if he was helping a child in the marketplace who had lost his mother, upon finding the frantic woman, she would assume that Antonio was the person who took her son in the first place. Regardless of his love for his children, he's not ready to have any of his own, much to his mother's dismay, as she wants grandchildren.

11: Looking at his kind and cheery face, very few would ever believe that Antonio was once quite the delinquent in his late middle school years. He never started the fights, but one wrong word could send him into a raging Spanish Bull with fists of fury. Seldom were the individuals mortally hurt, but medical complications of one victim landed him in the hospital. After hearing the news, Antonio vowed to be a more patient and loving person, and to use his words instead of his fists. Fighting is, and will always be, his last resort, as he prefers talking his problems out.

12: His family frequented England every summer until Antonio's youngest sister was born. Although a certain thick-browed individual just might be the main reason for the bad taste in Antonio's mouth when thinking about visiting that country, he learned to speak English from months of abroad travel and mostly perfected it upon moving to America in his Freshman year of high school. His best friends from that era, Francis and Gilbert, are still very close to him to this day.

Secret: To be fair, no one is always that happy, and Antonio is no exception; however, that smile might mask a painful remark or a harsh comment. Antonio doesn't always want to be this happy, he just hates unnecessarily concerning his friends on the days that he isn't. Romano is a heavy influence, as he's always calling Antonio names, and though he pretends like they never hurt, it does - he endures them, truly, because he's desperate to cling onto whatever the two soon-to-be-weds may possess.
