Regarding "trading" accounts: Either I'm completely mistaken, or the email address an account is registered under always remains associated with it, in order to prevent account theft...

Yes, I know - here's what I meant.

No worries - I think I explained myself very poorly in that first comment. :-)

What? In what way? That would be ridiculous. People keep LJs through email changes, and you can change your email. I guess they might keep track of the original, but there is no way to know this from our side. You can change the email associated with an account here.

Yes, I know you can change the email address; I've changed mine several times. However, you can't remove the email address the account was registered under, and you can always have a new password send to an old address - I did remember correctly; I just had to look it up.

Yes, you can if you haven't validated it. I have at least 3 unvalidated accounts.

Ah, I hadn't heard of that. But I thought you couldn't change your email address until you'd validated?

No. You can change it even if you haven't validated it.

Huh. I tried once, and it didn't let me. Hmmm, maybe I did something wrong. Or does that only apply to new accounts?

What do you mean by new accounts? One of my accounts was created in August 2007. I deleted it several weeks ago and switched addy then. I've just logged into it again and I could change the address.

I meant ones that didn't have previously validated email addresses. It could be a safety measure against account hijacking, I suppose. You learn something new about LJ every day!

I meant that too. The account I'm talking doesn't have a validated address. Never have.

Aaah, nifty! Thanks for the correction. So, whoever traded it could steal it back, heh. Dangers of the trading biz!
