Feedback link on ads gone

Aug 18, 2007 02:14

I'm not sure when this happened, but due to reports of folks in lj_ads complaining about a blaring ad on the front page, I went to scope it out and report it according to the last advice I was given on the best way to cope with undesirable ads, as opposed to reporting them to this community which was an overly negative action.

However, the feedback link next to all the ads is now gone, even while logged in, so I figure here is as good as any other place to place the report as long as I also needed to mention the newfound lack of feedback links.

The ad is for "Liquid Diamond" ("Now only 19.95 + P&H", "$80 value in all", etc) and goes here:

http://www.simoniz.com/?cid=371529

Ad guidelines violated:

* Interactive ads must indicate what actions will initiate interactivity (eg, "rollover to see expand", "play the game", etc).
* Audio or video events must be triggered by user-initiated behavior within the ad unit.

The ad starts a video with noise with no interaction indicated or needed. It lasts for 1:50 and has no controls to stop it or close it, violating:

* Additionally, ads with rich media or interactive elements must either close when moved off of or contain visible "close" or "stop" capabilities for the user.

Additionally, I am confused because the ad guidelines state that:

* Advanced rich media (Flash, Shockwave, etc) creative formats are permitted on a case-by-case basis if we determine they conform strictly to LiveJournal ad guidelines and quality assurance standards.

Since this is a Flash ad, the guidelines suggest that it should have been approved an a case by case basis according to the guidelines that this ad violates. So it probably violates that guideline as well, because if it was permitted on a case by case basis, it would have been rejected for disobeying the rules.
