When LJ implemented s+ accounts, all free accounts were switched. That means all inactive accounts and all accounts of those who don't know the difference.
It was just when it first came out. I actually recently switched to s+.. i'm trying to figure out a way to cover up the ads, or maybe retain a mood theme without having a sponsored account.
Yeah, I know, same with Myspace, but I got it to work there anyway. I'm also willing to deal with a less obtrusive advertisement application, say with the layout i'm experimenting with now. I figure I'll give it a shot since I've been working on this goddamn mood theme for about four hours, and if it disappears when I switch back to free, I'm going to be royally pissed.
But punquin elegant, although advertisements are on the side bar and not just randomly scarring your page, is the least editable layout available for s2. It's ridiculous.
Also, while I'm finding it difficult to remove the iframe/class/id tags, I can remove the ugly h4s that say "ADVERTISEMENT" and I may be able to change the background of the frames to the same color as the rest of my page.
I didn't say it wouldn't work. I said it was against the TOS. Which means if anyone who has a mind to report you notices, they could get you in trouble.
You sound very open to Sponsored+, so now I'm curious as to what purpose we serve to you.
I like knowing what other people are saying about it, and I particularly like the informational setting of this blog. It's very uncommon in a livejournal setting, and I like reading and commenting on it. There certainly isn't one this good supporting Sponsored+. I figure I don't know enough about Sponsored+ to be open or closed to it, so I'm exploring the pros and cons. This blog has an extremely objective approach to doing just that.
It's easy to say TOS, SCHTOS when you're not commenting in an environment where LJ employees or anti-Sponsored+ malcontents can see you talking about trying to break it. I'm cautioning you because you're in an environment hostile to your views, and you may find yourself taking flack for it.
it's nice to know that you're interested in the S+ account level and the informational aspect of our community.
however, i will not support the cover-up of the advertisements as it is a violation of the terms of service.
you seem to disregard the terms of service as the law of the land here and i'm not going to listen to it.
if i'm incorrect in my assumptions, feel free to stay here.

Oh, and in case you didn't know this, LJ implemented CSS filtering. All internal and external stylesheets are supposed to be parsed and cleaned of any CSS that can affect the advertisements' display.

and i'm pretty sure that my test free accounts were still free when they switched over.
and all syndicated accounts are still free accounts.
that switch may have been a bug.
could you show me an example of an abandoned account that is s+?

I do thank you for the compliments.
You should hijack sponsoredplus from arctangent. Someone bought him a paid account just to piss him off, so he's not even Sponsored+ anymore.
