Badges go live
Code push has activated. This means buttons/badges are now live--and for now they all feature LJ. Clicking on them leads to other LJ pages, like the Update pages or the FAQ on Loyalty Userpics.
You can see a screencap of them in action on our girl the_unadvocate here. (No, the word in the search bar doesn't mean anything; I was using Google to spellcheck. Because I'm lazy.)
Interestingly enough, the actual link for the badges (and all graphical banners I see now) goes to ad.yieldmanager.com, and that domain is part of a program operated by Right Media. This is probably so they can keep track of clicks on the badges, even though they're just linking to pages within LiveJournal. I'm assuming that eventually as the badges gain traction, there will be less LJ related badges and more advertising badges.
Number of different advertisement links it is now possible to have on a single journal page, with the Sponsored search links at the bottom, the skyscraper, and the badge: 11. (Graphical one for the badge, five Google text ads for the skyscraper, five for the sponsored search links by Google.)
