New TOS implemented and Hitbox

Jun 02, 2006 16:03

I just wanted to say that the new Terms of Service about ad blocking - aka those discussed here - have been implemented.

I also wanted to mention the lj_biz post about data-gathering via Hitbox version 2.0 . Just *mention* it. I'm pretty blah about the whole thing as it is now so I don't think it's really worth discussing it. But, although there is absolutely no reason to believe that this is going to be used for ad-targeting and even if the likelihood that this will happen all the same is microscopic, the possibility exists and has been brought up. So this is really a "We've mentioned it. End of the deal. If things change we'll be able to say: 'Oh yeah I remember we announced it. Let me find that entry again.' " post rather than a "They're evol! They know where we live, what awful song we sing in the shower and what is the color of our favorite [insert type of underwear here]. We're all gonna die! Let's commit seppuku!" one. :)

I personally hope my post and my pitiful attempt at humor will sink into the Web oblivion.

So, read the post, make your own opinion about it, share it there, or here or not at all. Your call.
