ETA: Sorry if this doesn't work. The script needs to be updated and the guide rewritten. We are aware of the issue and apologize for the inconvenience. We will try to fix this as soon as possible. To be honest, it may take a while though.

I installed, and it's working nicely, thank you!

As of now, I can't quite bring myself to boycott everyone who opts into the ads -- these people are my friends, after all. I have, however, made my feelings very clear, and for the moment I am refusing to comment on journals that use ads. That should bring around a few people, I think... what's the point of posting entries if nobody wants to comment?

This weekend I should be able to develop a website tool that will tell people who their Sponsored+ user friends are. It's a pain to try and go to each profile manually figuring it out, especially if you're free and going to hit ads every time you do it.

If you want to show an example to your friends of why you don't want to be seeing ads, this is probably a good one. At least for now, the filtering with the Google Text Ads leaves something to be desired; the last thing I want is advertising trying to indicate I'm not sexy naked and that in order to not be embarrassed by my body, I should be drinking their AMAZING WEIGHTLOSS TEA.

I noticed that WordPress was being mentioned in your journal; so far I have pretty high hopes for it as a migration tool. It's extensible with plug-ins. For instance, I'm pretty sure there's an OpenID plugin out there that would allow your LJ friends to comment without registering. I think there's also mechanisms for "friending" posts. It's very popular, and it's open source.

yes, I read Wordpress' FAQ, and it seems there is a way to make entries password protected. That's a huge bonus for me. Me likey open source as well.

The nice thing about open source is if you have a BURNING DESIRE for certain features and the geek power to do it, you can develop solutions on the code base. It's not up the the company--both a benefit and a disadvantage. WordPress is attractive in a lot of ways because of the plugin features. But if they're not sufficient, we can work on others.

For instance, I'm really digging the whole OpenID framework idea--here's the site. I want to be able to create user friendlists bases on OpenIDs--every LJer has one, so all your LJ friends could be included. I want to be able to filter posts on my list of friended OpenIDs, or enable commenting from only people with OpenIDs or people whose OpenIDs I have friended. I want to be able to make an OpenID account on LJ based on my blog and be friended and comment on entries of my friends. With OpenID, it's possible. It's decentralized and under YOUR control, not a service or company's.

Oh my! I'll look into fixing it when I have a computer again. In the meantime, you might want to notify kunzite1--he made the original script and might be able to fix it faster than I!

foxfirefey could prolly do a better job with selecting the correct area using xpath instead of my silly methods.

For some reason, the hands for the basic account (and maybe others, not sure) aren't showing up. Permanent and paid seem to, though. *confused*

It's worked fine for me before.
