WOW. it has been an intersting past few days!

WEDNESDAY: I am casually working on my Huck Finn essay when I notice that it is 9’oclock, the time of the Alias Season Premier! I save my essay and run downstairs, just in the nick of time to catch the beginning. Sydney pretends she’s Russian and runs around in her underwear when…WHAM. The power goes out. I see this as a sign that God disapproves of my procrastinating about my English paper, but then I realize that I can’t work on that either because it’s on the computer. I feel my way to the cabinet and grab the flashlights and distribute them to my family. We sit in the tv-room in the dark with the flashlights and candals. I see this as a great chance to get out my new guitar! So we sit around and play Kum-Bi-Ya and then go to bed.

THURSDAY: The power is still not on. The house is down to 60 degrees that morning. Also, it’s a SNOW DAY! But not because of excessive snow…because of no power at the school either. The ice caused trees all over town to fall over. 6 trees in my yard along fell over, one just missing our deck. 3 trees block my street, and a few block the entrance to my neighborhood. I have to eat cold pop-tarts for breakfast. Alex goes to the doctor at 11, where he finds out that he has broken his finger and has to wear a cast and can’t play sports for at least 10 days. Mom and Alex come home and we just sit around because there is nothing to do. We play 20 Questions, I play guitar, and me and Alex play Egyptian Rat Screw. Dad comes home and we all go out to dinner at Applebee’s. Afterwards, we all go over to my Grandpa’s to take showers since there is no running water at home. We pile on the blankets and layers and sleep at home. House is down to 55 when we go to sleep.

FRIDAY: Power still not on. 48 degrees in the house when I wake up. Alex has school, but I don’t because some kids slashed over 100 bus tires. After my parents drop off Alex at school, we go out to breakfast and just sit there in the warmth for an hour. Then we head over to Barnes & Noble for 2 hours, just sitting in the big comfy chairs. We go home to check on the dog. It’s now 46 degrees inside. We go over to the mall, just to kill time, but I don’t buy anything. We pick up Alex at school and then go home and pack bags, because we’ve decided that if the power doesn’t come back on we’ll stay in a hotel room. Power’s not on yet when we get there. So we check in to a hotel and go to dinner at Burger King. We go to the Revere basketball game, and I hang out with Kat mostly. They lose to their rival. Then me, Kelly, kat, and Michele go back to Kelly’s hotel room at the Holiday Inn and order pizza. They invite some guys I don’t know over, but they aren’t there yet when me and Kat leave. Kat’s sister calls and says that finally, at 11 o’clock at night, after 50 HOURS, THE POWER IS BACK ON!!!!!! We still stay in the hotel since we’ve already paid for it.

SATURDAY: We go home. POWERS ON! THERE’S HEAT! THERE’S RUNNING WATER! I have tv, internet, everything! We have to empty out the fridge/freezer, and we have to put away all the candles and blankets that we’ve been using. I am just so glad it’s warm! It was awful. I love electricity!
