God, I’m supposed to go to Colorado state!:)
Brittany and I are going to rock climb up the Colorado mountains, swing into creeks by ropes attached to big oak trees a hundred years old, and eat watermelon and apples while reading in the warm sunlight and comfortable breeze. We’re going to light fireworks in the small town on the fourth of July and ride our bikes up hills that sing. We’re going to make friends with fireflies. We’ll spend our days going on adventurous hikes just to see where we land, taking naps in canoes on the riverbanks, and relaxing with lemonade and cookies that will fill our content little bellies in the midst of the perfect summer.
In the fall we'll roast marshmallows at the campfire side, rake the leaves not to be neat but to take a youthful jump into their core, and bake the pumpkin seeds freshly carved out of our jack pumpkins smiling on our porch. We’ll buy sweaters, and scarves, and festive socks. We’ll make caramel apples, and share them with our best friends. We’ll go camping in the wilderness, and with flash lights we'll tell ghost stories, then laugh at how corny we are, yet let our eyes stray to the shadow on the tent when we think the other isn't looking. We’ll make a fire in our fireplace and have quiet talks with our tea, savoring the fact that it's fall and not spring.
In the winter our hearts will pound with the drums as we tailgate football games in ear muffs and big overcoats and ram fan wear from head to toe, as our mouths grow dry waiting for the juicy hot dog and hot cocoa that await us. We’ll let our noses get pink and our cheeks rosy and we'll let our hair down to warm our necks, tilting our heads, closing our eyes, and sticking out our tongues to catch a snowflake; the first and last of it's kind. We’ll go snowboarding with pros, ice blocking with friends, sledding with our boyfriends, and we'll have snow ball fights with brave little kids around the block. Everyday more snowmen will pop up from the ground surrounding our home, each with it's own identity and place in our hearts. We’ll bake cookies and decorate them, wrap presents and open some, and forget to take our Christmas lights down. We’ll sit outside on a swinging bench wrapped up tight in blankets, drinking hot apple cider, having long deep talks and then moments of awe..starring up at the stars and breathing life visibly into the cold winter sky.
In the spring we'll ride with the windows down, letting the smell of fresh flower fragrance fill our dethawed noses. We’ll take pictures of apalcas in parking lots and stop every-once-in-a-while to smell the roses showing their beautifully modest faces. We’ll let the butterflies in through the open windows, as we sit on the sills listening to the birds chirp and the trees come back from their slumber. We’ll wear light dresses, and less makeup, and let our hair go natural. We’ll sing in the rain, and forget about our worries, because spring will be upon us, and the flowers will smell too nice to be worried about anything.
During the seasons, we'll study in coffee shops and old libraries till the cute old lady in glasses kicks us out. We’ll have parties almost every night, showing the campus how much fun you can have by being silly and laughing too much. We’ll make new friends, but we will never forget Texas, our truest and loveliest old friend of all.
