Many voices have disappeared recently.  Are the speakers deceased, or were they merely returned to where they came from?  Either way, it is unsettling.

I see. Seems to be much more disappearing now than there has been in the past. Our captors getting bored with their subjects, perhaps? Or maybe they're continuing their experiments in another environment?

[There is a pause before she writes back.] Let us hope that it is the former. Making residents disappear only to experiment on them in another place is too cruel.

Our captors seem quite cruel. I would not put it past them. The evildoers of the world (or the universe, I suppose) can be surprisingly creative when it comes to ruining the lives of others.

I'm beginning to think that they just derive some sort of perverse pleasure in seeing us suffer.
