[written] Rorschach's Journal: November 2nd, 1985
I have been transported to a strange place, where I found my face and body beside me. This is likely the work of Doctor Manhattan - perhaps he realized the truth after all, and wanted to get me out of Veidt's grasp as soon as possible without him knowing. This scenario is more likely than one where he killed me; after all, I am clearly alive right now, and from what I have seen over the years, if the afterlife existed, there would be no heaven - everyone is too corrupt, too violent to qualify for entry. Regardless of where in America I am, I must warn others. Veidt's plan must be stopped at all costs.
However, it seems like it was a failure to begin with. It has not even been a day, and already, a Communist agent has been discovered within the country. So much for the "peace and brotherhood" that Veidt preached. The Communist was summarily dealt with in the usual fashion, but he mentioned other mercenaries. They must be found and punished immediately - no Communist threat will go unnoticed.
The corpse of the agent will eventually be discovered, but that is of no concern to me. Let the communists and other subversive forces see it as an example, why you shouldn't attempt to overthrow the pitiful semblance of democracy that exists here. Though it is corrupted with greedy politicians passing laws to line their pockets, using that money to buy whores and wallow further in their degradation, the alternative is much worse.
Even if the world turns against me, I will not break. Even in the face of Armageddon, never compromise. Veidt must be stopped.
