Security does not have to equal repression.
I wish our culture would kill off this automatic tendency to assume that pursuing something out of self-interest must be indicative of "selfishness" (hate that one), greed, or inherent manipulation of other people. I'm not agreeing with "love is the law"... I and most people feel there are ethical boundaries... but it's a double standard. We expect selflessness in a capitalist, democratic country.
