When you hear the subway DINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGing

Go figure- You try to log on the TTC's website so that you can make a complaint and everytime you try it FREEZES!!! (Tries have been spaced by hours so I am taking it personal!! GRRRRR.)

Last night when I asked a bus driver if his bus was going to York Mills he responded by pointing out that there are three signs and asked if I had seen any of them. No, I said. Well he gestured to the three signs which were not visible from where I was standing on the bus before finally saying that the 165 Weston Rd bus does indeed go to York Mills. I was confused by his attitude mumbled a thank you, and rolled my eyes as I walked to a seat where I tried to get over his poor demeanor and wondered why he was so damn crabby.

Fast forward to arrival at York Mills station where I went up to him before getting off the bus: Sorry, you'd bit my head off earlier, and it was really unnecessary. He then told me that he did not bite anyone's head off. And the conversation twitted between him rudely stating that he was not being rude or condescending (besides what if EVERYperson who got onto the bus asked him where it was headed) and me reminding him that it is late and such attitude is totally unwarranted (I just wanted to get on the right bus and take a power nap- pardon me for being too tired to read the bloody signs- which was flashing and at that point read "165 Weston Rd. North- when a bus is going east/west it is confusing to read a sign that says NORTH!!!). The conversation pretty much ended when he said that perhaps if I read the signs next time, he won't need to be rude to me. Arghhhhh. It was like having a conversation with a child. I told him he needed to work on being rude, wished him a good night and turned around.

Goodness, I so do not appreciate bad service. It's bad enough the busses show up whenever they feel like it but to complement it with such crankiness and condescension is just unnacceptable.

I think it pissed me off more because I really did expect some kind of apology for his tartness because hey, when you ask someone if you're headed the right direction because you're desperate to get there because it is very late and you just want to get home that someone is being a douchebag if they answer you with a question like you're stupid or something. (He really might as well have said, "Are you stupid or something- read the fucken signs.")

Anyway....

Isn't it sad that the sound of church bells and town bells have been replaced by the TTC Chimes in most of our lives? That's kind of depressing.

Ding dong ding.
Doors are closing.
Ding dong ding
Doors are opening.
Ding dong ding.
One.
Two.
Three.

Has anyone seen Equilibrium? What an awesome movie. It got me to thinking about why I read 1984 in the first place and it's because they made me!! I think that's one of the few books they make you read in school that everyone SHOULD read. Especially todays subway chime society where everyone's rushing to get on with life and catch those bloody doors.

Go watch it.
