I told myself I wasn't gonna read anymore spoilers cause they were bumming me out, but I saw the interview was with Sera so thought the chances were higher of them not bumming me out, and hey, I was right!
Srsly maybe I'm just in a different mood than you were when you read it, but I got completely different stuff out of it.
And he’s still very much attached to Sam and Dean, and he wants to help them any way he can. He’s a guy who’s being pulled in a lot of different directions.
WANT. It seems a bit like a rehash, but there's a difference in that it's not Castiel finding free will again, it's his trying to figure out how to use it and feeling responsibility to heaven. It's not him wanting to be a good little soldier; it's him wanting to be an authority. At least that's what I got out of it.
And I kinda can't believe I'm defending it, cause, well any possibility of them ruining or erasing Cas's story makes me irrationally angry.
meaning it's not going to be given up, after a year it's serious and most likely going to lastLol, no

I really don't think Sera put the Impala under a tarp because it's supposed to be a *good* change. Everything you wrote about it was exactly right - he's putting his real life under a tarp, and that's the point Sera is trying to make. Just because she wrote that doesn't mean it's supposed to be good. It creates conflict.
I think it's a mistake to really hope for an OTP - especially one like Dean/Cas - to be canon. I won't say that I'm not worried, but I very highly doubt that Cas is going to just forget everything Dean means to him. Remember - the spoilers are mostly for the first half of the season, maybe even the first few episodes. Obviously Castiel's character is going to keep growing. SPN is a good show, it knows what it's doing.
