• Went to see Jupiter Ascending with fangirls, and crikey o'malley, did it EVER exceed expectations. It's terrible; it's also phenomenal, spectacular, twisted, overwhelming, gorgeous, and HILARIOUS. I am going to BUY IT when it comes out. A few hopefully not-too-spoilery quotes of things exclaimed by our group during the movie: "Nice shoes; wanna fuck?" & "Ohmygod Oedipalism is SO EVIL" & "Ahhhh she just spilled so many people!" & "Holy shit, SEAN BEAN DIDN'T DIE!!!" We also want a Star Trek show/spinoff following the kickass Captain and her elephant pilot and awesome crew through space adventures.
• Went for drinks and some delicious cheeses at
Beecher's Cellar, and didn't even have to wait much for a table (whilst staring at their cheese-making process space). I'm thankful they serve bread with all their plates because otherwise I'd have had to clean mine with my fingers and/or tongue, and nobody needs to see that. Yummmmmmmm.
• Had a gift card for The Strand, so I spent another hour or so browsing and finally only getting three books (because I am QUEEN of self-control, that's why). Unfortunately they didn't have Aciman's Out of Egypt essays, so I guess I'm ordering that one online. It feels a bit like homework for the immigrant experience, as I prepare for another cycle of it; I'm not as young and resilient as I was the last time I changed my life around this drastically, and I could use some beautiful words from a stranger. ♥
• Two more people fell for Grantchester today and thanked me for all the pimpage, which makes me so happy I could do cartwheels! That is, if I were physically capable of doing cartwheels. But emotional cartwheels totally count, okay. Ahh, ladies, just you wait until tomorrow's episode: Sidney and Geordie go to London! Jazz happens! And... other things!!! Okay, no spoilers, just - watch. \o/
