House, "Wilson"

IT'S JAMES, BITCHES!!!

...OK, that just made me laugh and laugh. Because for YEARS I've had this completely ridiculous conviction based on ABSOLUTELY NOTHING AT ALL that Wilson didn't like being called "Jim" or "Jimmy" - and now I feel equally ridiculous over 1) being proven right, and 2) feeling this happy about it. IDK.

I was expecting this ep to be what "The Zeppo" was for Buffy and fearing it a bit for that reason, but I'm glad that (outside of the basic structure) it wasn't the story of a supporting character's validation - rather, it was about the character's already established beautiful fucked-up-ness and the intelligent, complex coping structure he'd built around it in the shape of his life, which is a MUCH better story. And I liked the difference in tone and flow: Wilson's got his own narrative which happens to be largely set in the same 'verse as that of House, but there was a qualitative distinction I really appreciated.

The rest was... oh. Well, OK, a few things were pretty awful (the treatment of possible organ donor's sister, the stuff about Cuddy at the end) but overall, I feel much love for this ep. Fantastically slashy (which I expected) and pretty heavy (which I also expected, him being an oncologist and also Wilson). I wonder if any of his marriages ended over his involvement with a younger woman, because he just couldn't let that one go. Hmmm.

And I am so, so glad that we now have ANOTHER scene of House and Wilson hanging out and laughing together. Somehow, that was even better for me than the "let's get a bigger place so we can stop fighting" ending scene. (Still, SIGH. Roommates. Uh-huh.)

Oh, show. You know I can't quit you when you do this kind of stuff.

In conclusion: GERMAN PORN WTF LOL. (Somebody please write the story in which House taunts Wilson over this too-Freudian-for-a-respectable-joke betrayal of his Jewish heritage. Because he so would.)
