Born in the same animal year as this year... LuckyjademurasakiFebruary 5 2008, 19:37:16 UTC
Yup! In Chinese Astrology the same animal year you were born in is an especially auspicious year for you...so the Year of the Rat should be a good year in general. Of course, it isn't exactly the same year as you were born because that only happens once every 60 years when the element of the animal sign you were born in repeats itself (5 elements and 12 animal signs). This is one reason why turning 60 is such a big deal in ancient Chinese birthday celebrations...it is the fact you've made it through the cycle of elements and signs and returning to the one you were born during.
An example is myself: I was born during a Wood Dragon year. There have been three dragon years since then, one was a Fire Dragon (1976), one (I can't remember the element) in 1988, and one a Metal Dragon (2000). The next one is in 2012 and I forget what element that is, but it is either Earth or Water. The next Wood Dragon year won't be until 2024.
Still, the animal year you were born in, despite the element, is always considered to be an auspicious year for you and a time to try things that you might not try if you didn't feel it was going to be a good year. Supposedly, since this is going to be an Earth Rat year it is supposed to be in particular a very good year to try new things in general...so consider this if you take the fortune-telling aspect (I'm more into the personality aspect of zodiacs...East or West) of the Year of the Rat and the fact you were born during a Rat year.
