Hello all...
I am guessing that everyone who has ever read one of my stories or watched a video, will know I took my pen name from my dog... Zena.
Today, exactly 8 weeks short of her 13th birthday, she passed away.
She had been sick and we had visited the emergency vet two nights ago, so this was not so unexpected, but still very hard.
I had my last moments with her this morning, when she wouldn't get off the bed to have her medicine. I wasn't late for work, so a made a point of talking out loud to her. I spent a couple minutes just thanking her for being my friend. I told her that I loved her and scratched her on the belly.
I feel guilty because she died alone, something I dreaded as I left for work, knowing it was a potability. As I left I turned back her and really made eye contact. She looked back, just as intensely. I think that was our good-bye.
So maybe, just maybe, Zena knew that it was less traumatic to find her peacefully still in my daughter's room. She was laying on a towel Bethany had left on the floor.
My daughter called her dad and he came over. She now rests peacefully in rear yard, with 3 beautiful flowers resting on her grave.
I loved you, Zena, from the moment I watched you be born. RIP.
