After all, I took a bus back to the airport and retrieved my bag. Everything went fine, until a woman, probably in her mid-forties, sat next to me on the way back and said something to me in Italian, which I naturally didn't understand. I tried to tell her, in English, that I didn't speak Italian. I assume I shouldn't have done that, because she got a very pitiful look on her face and pulled me, no, grabbed me into a tight and rather uncomfortable hug. I managed to struggle free and she started to cry, bellowing about something in rapid Italian. I somehow jumped over her (large) body and got off seven stops before the hotel. When I got to back to the hotel, I realised I had left my bag into the bus.
Yes, Rome is interesting.
