The morning had gone quickly for Nanao. Up at 4 am, fresh from one of her disturbing dreams, she’d gone ahead and taken a quick shower and made her way to work. Cataloguing was something that could be done at any time, so her timetable was pretty much open when she was scheduled in the office. At such an early hour, the offices were deserted, and peaceful.
After she was done cataloguing the numerous texts they’d just received, she noted it was just past 11, so she left without a word to the staffers that were there for the day. It was a nice enough day, if a little hot, so she chose to walk back to the apartment. She decided to head to a bookstore along the way, intent on picking up some books she’d need for her upcoming classes. Another quick stop to her normal coffee shop turned into something longer than planned, the owner ushering her back into the back despite her protests.
The garden was coming in beautifully, and Nanao was quick to praise the older woman’s grandchild, who had noisily informed her that she’d helped take care of it. The youngster was so pleased by the praise that she’d immediately picked several of the blooms and gave them to Nanao, also ignoring her gentle objections. The owner agreed and there was little more Nanao could say, so she merely bowed her head and murmured a quiet ‘thank you’, then purchased the tea she’d originally stopped in for.
Back at the apartment, she changed into a lightweight tank top and a pair of cut-off jeans, then grabbed one of her new books, her keys and a blanket to sit on and her cd player. She pondered inviting Hayate to join her on her way to the roof, but changed her mind when she set foot on the fourth floor. She didn’t want to crowd him, still unsure of some things with him.
The sun was hot on the rooftop, but it didn’t change Nanao’s mind. She was determined to get some fresh air and sunlight, so what better way to do so than while reading?
Settling her blanket in her usual spot, Nanao stretched out and slid her headphones on, then cracked Information Ethics open.
