The building was large, and Kin liked knowing what the rest of it looked like, so she'd spent the last half hour or so wandering around to see where things were. She'd found the laundry room in the basement, and the mailboxes on the first floor. The stairs that lead up to each landing and the rest of the apartments creaked variously, but that was to be expected. The entire place was stiflingly hot, and even in a skimpy corset and short skirt, Kin was perspiring from her exertions.
Still, she pressed on. She was going to finish seeing the rest of this building if it killed her. There was only the fifth floor left to go. If she'd brought her coat with her, she might have thought to venture up on the roof, but it was still chilly outside, and she wasn't quite that hot. The fifth floor, she found, looked almost exactly like the previous three floors. How boring.
