Nanao trudged back from the bus stop, worn out from her early morning shift at work. Her pocket was half full, which was yet another thing to go on her good list. She had learned her quick memory made her a favorite with the regulars at the cafe she worked at. She knew them all by name, and had their orders in as soon as they sat down. Most of the early morning regulars were older people or businessmen on their way to work, so they appreciated her efficiency.
School, on the other hand, wasn't as high on the good list as work. She had never been so easily distracted by life as she was now. It was problematic, but she could handle it.
Once in the door, she slipped out of her coat and unwound the scarf she had scrounged from the local thrift store and dropped everything else on the arm of the couch, heading for the kitchen. She pulled a bowl of leftover curry from the fridge (trying not to look too far into the back) and tucked it in the crook of her arm, then walked out the door and headed to number 2. After knocking politely, she waited a moment, then opened the door and poked her head in.
"Ah... hello?"
