The snow looked like it was thinning out in front of the building, or so Nanao thought. It hardly mattered to her, though. She had had a busy day, waking up at 4:30 AM just in time to get ready for work. After her shift was over, she barely made it to her Advanced Comparative Literature class. The class had seemed to drag on for far too long, and it was a dry subject to begin with. She finally made her way back to the apartment and started up the stairs, muttering under her breath when she dropped her books. Naturally, they ended up in a pile of half melted snow. With another mumbled comment, she picked them back up and made a beeling straight for her door.
Two hours later, she had ducked her head (and the rest of her, too) under the showerhead for a quick clean up, drank a full pot of coffee and finished up some papers she hadn't had a chance to work on during class. Thinking it might be a good time to just relax, she grabbed her largest mug, filled it up and headed out into the hall, intending on finding her way to the roof.
She made it to the roof with little contact with any of her neighbors, partly dismaying her, partly pleasing her. She pushed open the noisy door that led to the roof and stepped out into the cool air, looking up with a soft sigh. "Wow. What a beautiful sky..."
She found a spot to sit down, content, for now, to do nothing but stargaze.
