obviously, after the events that transpired tonight at work, most people still do not get the point to tipping your bartenders. allow me to explain to those of you who don't get the idea, of tipping, how this works, (to all of my friends whom i know already understand these concepts, please disregard the following comments, as they are not directed at you). in the service industry, all wait staff and bartenders make $5.95 an hour, (to those of you who are ignorant, or stupid, or simply dropped on your head as a child, this i less than minimum wage). the reason the canadian government sees to it that we earn a lower minimum wage is because they expect us to earn tips. these tips make up a rather essential portion of our income, (that is, assuming we receive said tips from you dimwhits). now, try and understand, most bars and restaurants require their service staff to tip out a percentage of their sales to the house - that is, we pay the establishment, where we work, a percentage of our sales - this money is distributed to the busboys/girls, runners, barbacks, and service support who help us throughout the night, (please note that these people do not receive tips, but they do receive certain bonuses, paid in cash, because of this percentage paid to the house). now, if you order a drink, or even food from me at the bar, but neglect to tip, this means that i have to pay out of my own earnings/pocket said percentage, to the house, because the sale has been made. simply put, i refuse to pay my own money for the privelage to serve you dumb-ass ignorant fucks, we try to call customers.
tonight alone, i personally had three customers kicked out of my bar, because they were not tipping, and presented themselves with extremely pretentious and obnoxious attitudes. all things said, i didn't like them, and i refused to pay my own hard earned money for the privelage to serve these idiots. as a result, i simply had the doormen remove them from the bar entirely. just remember, this could happen to you too, at just about any bar in the city. regardless, this is just one example of the cheap-ass fuckers i dealt with tonight at work, amidst a rather full club.
anyways, i've ranted enough for tonight. time to get some sleep before my exam tomorrow, (or today - depends on how you look at it.
