Holy CRAP people, please learn to drive!

So I had an interesting drive in this morning.

Some of you may remember a few posts back that I was talking about seeing the same people driving around your home, work, etc.

One of the people I see all the time (the guy in the "Color Copies" van) turned onto the street I was driving on right behind me. "Wow, there he is again," I thought. At the same moment, one of those super-old pickups with the wood sideboards to hold in landscaping and gardening equipment (and, evidently, the remains of a large tree they just cut down) pulls up next to me. I notice they don't have ANYTHING in the way of a back gate on the truck, which explains why a HUGE log rolled out as soon as the light changed.

Fortunately, I was beside him when this happened. My friend driving the ubiquitous "Color Copies" Van was, however, right behind him and had to swing wide in his lane to avoid said log. I pulled up next to the pickup and tried to yell at them to let them know that they were loosing material from their truck. The hispanic folks in the truck looked at me like I was crazy, and paid no mind. Just then, the Color Copies guy gets behind them and starts honking. All of a sudden, as we're pulling up to a double right-hand turn, the pickup gets in front of me! I swing into the leftmost right turn lane, and try to hit the gas in case another log rolls out and the inertia carries it into my lane.

At this exact moment, Color Copies guy is extremely agitated that the landscaping pickup won't acknowledge his honking, and more material has started to fall out. Incredibly (they're both in front of me now, heading into the right turn), the guy in the pickup SWERVES SIDESWIPE STYLEE TOWARDS COLOR COPIES GUY!!! Holy shit on toast, I thought they were going to spin out in front of me.

Amazingly enough, no one hit anyone else, and the Color Copies van ended up "pulling over" the pickup truck to yell at him for almost taking him out, and for not securing huge, round lumber in the back of their truck. YIKES. People's general level of stupidity never fails to amuse me.

The main point is, of course, that I made it in OK. =)
