Why is everyone so nasty to the other Russians? The negative attitude to others, especially strangers, was so well established, and was quite obviously the major part of the the problem, of everyday's existence, that to me, from outside, it seemed to be a common sense. Yet, the behaviour was so entrenched, that my simple suggestions were moot, and even served as an example of my western ignorance and naive well-wishing.
