Looking out at the crew and cast Gackt’s blue eyes are drawn to a small figure standing by the waters tides, shirtless and lightly sun-kissed back, Hyde’s wings are perfect to his view and Gackt stands up.
He walks over to Hyde, his co-star, with the vague yearning to touch him, to see if those wings on his back were indeed as real as they appeared; but Gackt stopped himself short when Hyde turned to look at him with a smile.
“Hey Gacchan,”
“Hello Haido,”
“What brings you here? All done with your work?”
“No, I’ve still got quite a lot of things left to do actually…” looking to the older man as he broke his gaze from the sea to look at him, a confused look on his younger looking face.
“Then why are you here? I thought you were a workaholic.” Hyde laughs as he crouches down, running his fingers in the cold waters as they come and go along the white shores of Taiwan. Knowing that Gackt is watching him, he always knows; he’s become accustomed to the hot blue gaze of Gackt on him now.
“I figured some break time would be good, and when I saw you, I couldn’t help myself.” The soloist told truthfully as he crouched down beside his friend, their shoulders touching occasionally.
“I’m glad I’m a distraction to you then,” Hyde laughs, finding a shell and examining it like it were a fine gem, before handing it to Gackt.
“What’s this for?”
“Since I don’t have a penny, a shell for your thoughts.” The smaller man smiled, placing the shell into the soloist’s larger hand, Hyde smiled fondly at his friend before going back to playing with the water.
No matter how many weeks or months he had known Hyde for, Gackt was always taken by surprise by the older man. By a flip of a coin, Hyde could be a cool minded, soft spoken man; the kind of man who had years of experience under his belt and many more years of wisdom behind his mischievous eyes.
And then there were times when Hyde was as childish as a young boy with all the time in the world, free to do what ever he wanted when ever; and mostly the people around him allowed it. One look into those large dark brown eyes hidden under the moss colored contacts and not many could disagree to Hyde’s requests.
Gackt was one of them.
Looking to his right at the older man, his dirty yellow dyed hair shimmering under the Taiwanese sun as the water glittered his skin, his moss colored eyes glowing like plastic glass.
“Like what you see?”
“I do, very much.” Gackt answered as Hyde looked up to him. Blue on green as moment’s washed away as the waters took the sands.
In that moment so many things could have happened. So many boundaries pasted, lines that were drawn out- erased. He could have leaned foreword just so and press his lips to Hyde’s and it would be done…. But.
Hyde was married, and they were just friends.

After filming, the entire crew were set down on the beach for a dinner out under the stars, everyone; crew and cast alike sat at the large tables as food was being pasted out. At the head of the table Gackt watched with glee as everyone enjoyed the warm night.
Casually as if it were normal, Gackt turned to look at his co-star and friend seated to his right. Hyde was stuffing his face with food far beyond any person could handle at one moment, and Gackt couldn’t hold back the laugh that escaped.
Moss green eyes looked up at him for a movement, a gleam in them before returning to the sight before them, eating as much food as he could without choking himself. Hyde gave out a laugh.
It was a good night.
The lights of town, like golden honey in a warm jar of sand and ocean waves, glittered beside the crew and cast as dinner went on, food was pasted, laughs and jokes were made. Memories cherished. Gackt loved it all, so much that deep within a conversation with the director it wasn’t until they had stopped talking did he realize Hyde was no longer beside him.
“Where--” quick blue eyes darted about in hopes of a blond sight, when he didn’t see anything but dark ocean Gackt asked the crew member closest to him.
The man pointed and instantly Gackt was off in search of Hyde. He knew logically, the older man was fine. He was still on the beach and he was old enough to take care of himself perfectly. But- that didn’t stop Gackt from running towards a dash of blond and golden red the moment his eyes adjusted.
“Haido!” he cried out, his voice weak against the waves as he came up beside his co-star, breathing deeply before standing up to his full height, watching the smaller man take a breath of his nicotine.
“You found me.”
“I did.” He responded immediately, relief washing over him as Hyde turned to look out at the ocean taking one last breath of his nicotine before dropping it into the sand and burning out the golden red light. False green eyes looking up into plastic blue orbs, with question.
And Gackt answered. “I was worried, so I came looking.”
“You didn’t have to run, I was still on the beach Gacchan.”
“I know, but you’re my friend Haido. I need to worry,” the taller man smiled as Hyde looked at him with a glimmer in his eyes before he fell back onto the beach floor, lying in the sand looking up at his friend.
“Come join me Gacchan,”
Without words he does as asked of him and lies down with him, their feet being soaked in seawater but neither cared. Content silence fills the two singers turned actors as the waves of Taiwan crash against the shores in a perfect worldly rhythm.
Gackt allows himself to drift off when he feels Hyde move beside him and his eyes are sighted with Hyde’s suddenly naked back, black angel wings spread out and free. Hyde is standing and undressing almost as if he is about to-
“What are you doing Haido?”
“What does it look like Gacchan? I’m going to go swimming.”
“In the middle of the night!”
“Is there any better time?” Hyde answers with his ever impish smile before casting off his shirt, and shoes leaving only his pants on as he jumps into the cold water with a yelp.
“I told you! Now get out of there before you get sick!” Gackt reprimands, unable to hold his smile from breaking out across his face as Hyde resurfaces from under the waves with a laugh,
“Come on Gacchan! Jump in, the water is great!” Hyde tells happily, diving into the clear ocean waters and reappearing with a huge gasp for breath.
“I don’t--”
“Don’t make me come get you Gackt!” Hyde scolds the younger man ready to jump up at him all wet and dripping and Gackt sighs in defeat. He can rarely deny the man anything after all. He undresses just like his older friend and with a slight hesitant step gets into the water.
Before long however, Gackt is laughing and Hyde is grinning. The two men playing in the warm waters of Taiwan, splashing and swimming, jumping on one another and playing child games; in a matter of minutes the two rock stars are tired and begin to recede towards the shore.
“Ahh I’m too tired, Gacchan carry me!”
“It’s not far away Haido, you can walk yourself.”
“But I don’t wanna! Carry me! You’re bigger!” the smaller man whines as he looks at Gackt with his Kei eyes wide and pleading and Gackt with his Sho eyes looks back in defeat once more.
“Alright get on,” he smiles and gets lower into the wading waters as Hyde jumps up on his back, but as he runs he doesn’t see the large wave behind him until it pushes him with enough force that he loses his footing and crashes into Gackt’s back; both men falling and tumbling onto the shore in heaps of tangles legs and arms.

“Oooouch!”
“Ugh, Haido!”
“Sorry Gacchan, the wave pushed me.” Hyde stated as he tries to open his eyes only to feel a weight on his chest and lower body and a breath on his lips, he opens his eyes and stares into Gackt’s blue orbs watching him from above.
They are tangled together in mixed legs and arms, wet clothes against harsh breathing chests, and no one moves. Once again the waves wash with the white sands of Taiwan’s beach and there is silence.
Gackt knows he should get off of Hyde, he’s a small guy and he weighs more but Gackt finds that- he can’t move, or rather he doesn’t want to move. Not when the man of his dreams, the one he finds himself falling in love with- is under him. Perfect and still.
He knows where he is suppose to stand between them, he knows- oh how he knows, where Hyde stands between them. He is the friend, and Hyde is married. That is all they can be! But- for this moment….Gackt doesn’t care.
He won’t care, for just this one moment; staring into Hyde’s eyes with his lips so close….
And softly like crisp wisps of sea foam Gackt lowers his head, his eyes ever watching Hyde as he never looks away, never moving and soon their noses brush and there is a spark in Hyde’s eyes but still he does not move. And Gackt touches his lips to Hyde.
For a heartbeat, for a moment the ocean is silent. For a second that lasts longer than it should, the world is bright and at peace. For one instant, two hearts are in perfect harmony.
And then it is over.
And Gackt pulls away slowly, hesitant of what he’s done as realization hits him like a brush of cold winter air. What if Hyde hates him?! What has he done! He let his emotions get the better of him and this happens!
The younger man quickly gets up from Hyde’s still body, the sudden loss of warmth registers in the back of his mind and he scolds himself for it as Gackt tries to look for his clothes never looking into the older man’s eyes.
“I-I’m sorry Haido, I-- I don’t know what happened… I--” he doesn’t stutter like this ever and again Gackt scolds himself when the abrupt hand of another touches his bare arm, stopping his movements instantly.
“Gackt, look at me.”
Turning to face his judgment, Gackt barely sees the hand coming to his face- but he won’t push away because he deserves the slap….only instead, there is a soft hand on his cheek and not a burning sensation. The younger man opens his eyes, just now realizing he had closed them, only to see Hyde look up at him with a smile on his face.
“You didn’t do anything wrong silly kid,”
“B-ut I kissed you and you’re--” finally finding his voice,
“I am but what Megumi won’t know won’t hurt her right? And besides….” this time Hyde is the one to look away for a moment before giving Gackt the smile that had first stolen his heart. Still dripping wet with the seawater, skin glowing under the ethereal white arms of the moon and honey lights of the town, green eyes glittering with mischief. And automatically, Gackt knew.
So with a hesitant smile, a true grin soon taking his face Gackt threw his arms around Hyde in a true hug. The force of his body driving Hyde back some until once again they fell over onto the beach shores, laughter ringing against the waves.
“You know after this I’ll have a really hard time trying to not kiss you as many times as I want to Haido,”
“I know, which will mean you can only do it when I say you can, or when we’re alone and only one time, so make it count. I don’t want you getting addicted to me,” Hyde grinned from under Gackt, their foreheads pressed together as he heard his younger friend sigh.
“But I think I already am addicted to you Haido.” He said truthfully, looking down and straight into his older friend’s eyes,
“I know Gacchan, I always knew.” And this is all I can do for you, Hyde thought before he let Gackt kiss him again.
