Why are there so few women on Digg? As a regular female Digger/Slashdot/Fark/Gizmodo reader I found this article interesting with some good points and flaws. Even though I read above sites on a daily basis, I have only left one comment on all of the above. Mostly it's because if I post, I'll think of a comment 10 times more amusing minutes after I post and I spend the rest of the day kicking myself.
Comments are usually the best and most hilarious part about the article. But at the same time comments on the interwebs can get really ugly and childish really fast and I don't even see the point in commenting. Why even bother arguing with idiots?
Oh, and I also check CuteOverload because OMG! Ponies!!!eleveneleven111!

"One of the things I dislike about digg in particular and community websites in general, is the lack of civility. People get rewarded through attention, participation points (depending on the way the site opperates), or flame wars for making stupid comments.
I'm not saying that everything needs to be sugar coated, but I know a lot of women are put off by the idea of being insulted if they participate."
