Another looong weekend :)

So anotherjen came to visit last weekend, and we had an amazing time.

Jen arrived Thursday afternoon and we went to Chutzpah (warning: their website plays music), which geekchick had tried out a week or so before. The food was good and definitely abundant, but as Jen pointed out there was something Just Wrong about such a Jewish-flavored deli serving BLTs! Thursday night we went out to dinner with geekchick, at Lebanese Taverna, which was excellent as usual. We'd hoped a few more people could make it, but it didn't work out that way. It was a good time in any case, despite my worst-ever allergy attack. Friday we got up - eventually! - and went out to do random things during the day. Rather than going out for dinner we went to the grocery store and had a little picnic in our room, watching Bridget Jones' Diary. Mmmm nesting. :)

Saturday we got up earlier to check out, and came back to the house. After amusing the cat for a while we headed over to Wegmans, to get some lunch, some dinner to take to the club and something to eat later that night. Jen had been to one before, briefly, but had never experienced the full power of The Dark Side Wegmans, so it was a fun experience. I especially loved watching her go boing! over the kosher foods section, and we ended up with noodle kugel, salmon bits and bagels. And we escaped for (just) under $100, which is quite an accomplishment in that store! After eating a late lunch of sushi we got ready for the evening and headed downtown. Before going to the club we met up with vvalkyri and had dinner at... ummm... well I'm blanking on the name but it was something to do with bananas. It was a jam-packed Salvadoran/Cuban/*-Mex place, and damn good. We shared some tapas that were almost entree-sized, and ended up pretty full.

After dinner Jen and I went on to the club. It was a quiet night but we got to see a bunch of people and had a lot of fun. Oh yeah, a lot of fun and 125' of rope. orlaith said it looked like I had too much rope, which was true, but I still managed to use most of it! And it was color-coordinated to boot. Stacy and Clinton would be proud. :) (At least it was color coordinated at first, but later on I realized I should have used some of the pink rope...) We didn't get to sleep until something like 2:30, but surprisingly getting up at 7 to take Jen to the airport was not too hard. After I dropped her off I felt oddly awake and thought I might stay up, but after ~4 hours the lack of sleep caught up with me and I took a nap.

Alas the quote of the weekend was, as Julie Brown said, "too personal to put in a pop song" (Earth Girls are Easy), so I can't repeat it here. If I'd been the one who said it I wouldn't want it repeated, that's for sure!

Sunday evening I went to have dinner with rdhdsnippet and family. When I saw the baby-proofing that's been put in place since my last visit I asked "Why not put a helmet on the baby?" Apparently scherzoid had wondered the same thing on a couple of occasions, though I can't quite remember why it was a bad idea. I think it boiled down to "If you suggest it, rdhdsnippet will make a face at you." Ok, good enough for me. ;)

Yesterday I recovered from the weekend and did supplement stuff. geekchick and I have hardly seen each other in a week; I've been with Jen and she's been spending time with brian1789 while he's in town. We would be going to dinner tonight except for happy hour... which I'd better get ready for right now. But tomorrow, dinner with geekchick for sure!
