geekchick was out of town most of last week, but I had plenty of help being not bored.
rdhdsnippet planned to come over for dinner on Monday, but
dababybean wasn't feeling well. It was ok because I overdid the sauce I cooked the fish in and I'm not sure she would have liked it much.
On Tuesday I went out with
boadiccea. We had a fun, yummy and cheap dinner at
Bumblefish in Old Town. We sat outside, and at one point a very random seeming Russian (?) woman asked if we wanted some Orbitz gum. It was some kind of marketing thing, apparently. After dinner we went back and finished off season 3 of Coupling, with only a small amount of Jeff-induced drink spitting. ;) (Season 3 has imo some of
Jeff's best monologues: "Porn jelly", "Sally could be a lesbian" and "Lesbians are porn-efficient. It's sex with a greater density of women", just to name a few.) I'm looking forward to watching season 4 with B, because it humanizes Jane enough that I don't seem quite so crazy for liking her as much as I do.
Thursday I went to a social/dinner thing, and saw a bunch of people.
free_of_whip and
easy_living,
lionessindc,
little_bitti and
_brightshadow_,
fatesfolly and a couple more I'm blanking on. I also met a couple of new folks, which was nice.
Saturday morning
geekchick got home on a redeye. Yay for having my sweetie back! We were lazy most of the day, then
Redboxed Smokin' Aces, which was decent. It might've been better if we'd paid closer attention, but we didn't. I liked the skinhead punk hitmen - they were very
Repo Man.
"Ze goggles, zey do nothing make me look cool!" Sunday
rdhdsnippet came over for some aptly-named and very enjoyable stuff'n'dinner. This time I was more careful when I made the sauce, and the tilapia came out quite edible. Yay for fun stuff and edible dinner!
Last night I went to
fortryll and
scherzoid's well-attended and well-received poly presentation.
geekchick had originally planned to go too, but skipped it in favor of a date. ;)
I sat with
he_who_wanders and
petroglyph, who (apparently) didn't appreciate me tickling her foot. The way she expressed her disapproval wasn't exactly a deterrent, but I figured I'd play nice during the presentation, and ask her to do it again some other time. ;) Afterwards I got to say hi to a lot of mostly non-LJ people, conveniently including a few email slackers that I needed to catch up with. I also met a couple new people, which is always good. I was surprised to run into the glowing and somewhat showing
woodlandmaiden; we chatted for a minute about baby stuff and our mutual friend J. People I kinda expected to see and didn't:
lionessindc,
kellfire and
alricthemad. And the final yay! of the evening - I escaped without having to listen to any BR election bs!
