I finally saw
Scrubs, now on Comedy Central. It's surprisingly good, and very funny in that rapid fire Aaron Sorkin-esque way I like. It's less serious than Sports Night (let alone West Wing), but it's funny, biting and sometimes sweet in a way that works.
Barry Manilow was Steven's guest on
The Colbert Report the other night. After Manilow beat Colbert to win the Emmy for Best Individual Performance, t3h internets apparently declared them mortal enemies. In a big-hearted display of... something, they made up, signed a peace treaty agreeing to share the Emmy... and sang a duet. OMFG!! I need brain bleach, stat!
If you haven't seen
Adult Swim's bumps, you're missing out. They're little slideshows that make pithy comments, one screen of plain white-on-black text at a time.
Here's a recent one about Google's purchase of Youtube. (1 line of text = 1 screen)
Congratulations to Google for buying the whole damn internet
We wanted to crack on your giant corporate ass
for swallowing all media without even chewing
We also wanted to rebuke the internet
for spreading her legs
every time you put a little money on the nightstand.
But then we found your tricky Docs & Spreadsheets technology
which we shamelessly used
to write these bumps.
(pause)
Now we ain't got shit to say.
Way to jack our thunder.
