Moving tomorrow. In a huge hurry.

Mar 12, 2007 23:43

Sooo today at 12:30pm or so, Alex and I took a bit of a long lunch and went to apply for an apartment. Our plan was to take Friday off so we could get all our moving done before the major part of the weekend, and hopefully avoid any tangles with my psycho mother thereby.

At about 4pm, with less than an hour left in our workday, Alex was hungry. So we clocked out for our afternoon breaks and went downstairs, intending to get something small at the Wendy's. Just as we were about to walk out the building's front door, we got a phone call. We thought it was going to be the lady from the apartment complex calling to tell us we'd been approved.

But it wasn't. It was my father. He was calling to inform us that my mother will be arriving in the States on Wednesday, and that it's his intention to move us into a hotel on Tuesday evening, like he did in January, but at even shorter notice.

We called our answering machine at home to pick up our messages. There was a messaging from the apartment complex saying we'd been approved. We clocked out of work something like 20 minutes early.

On the way home, I called the apartment complex from my cell and asked if we could move in tomorrow instead of Friday. They were fine with this. So we stopped by Washington Mutual and I got a $1600 cashier's check for the $500 deposit and the $1100 first month's rent. Alex called the electric company while I was inside the bank to have our electricity switched to our name.

The complex pays water, gas, trash and sewage.

We've got a U-Haul on reserve for tomorrow. We told them we'll be in at noon to sign the lease... But we're gunna call first thing in the morning and ask if we can come in a bit earlier, instead. Possibly at 10. We need to go by the post office and get the keys for our mailbox at the complex. We need to order cable Internet. I need to call Doctor Miller's office and say that since it looks like I won't have much time to work on her website anytime soon, I'd like to pay for the vial she gave me for free during my last appointment.

My back hurts and I'm stressed as hell... And Alex is in a fairly similar state right now. But hopefully 24 hours from now most of this will be done and we'll actually get some rest.

It's 10 to midnight and I'm going to try to go to sleep. We're maybe 75% done with the packing. Gunna wake up at 5am tomorrow and keep going. Everyone send us good vibes -- we can use it.
