Today I received an email from a co-worker which detailed a story of a little baby girl in Poland who was caught in a house fire, receiving 3 degree burns and permanent damage to her face, bones, and possibly her brain. The email stated to forward this to everyone who you can think of, for every email forwarded, $.03 would be donated to her parents.
"I hope this is truly helping her..x
If you don't forward this___you don't have a heart!
Dear All,
Alexandra came out of a fire alive, but now has to fight for her life and a normal future.. She is 14 months old and she has burnt skin all over her body, damage facial bones (as a result of very high temperature). She does not have half of her face. She is in hospital in Krakow - Poland and one of the best specialist is looking after her. However she still has to go through many surgeries and then long rehab. Unfortunately her parents do not have any more money.
Therefore we are asking for your help. For each forwarded email her parents will get 3 cents. Please help them and forward that email to as many people as you can!
The story is sadly true, however the donation part is not. I have looked it up and came across a couple of pages.
Topic on Snopes Poland TV/Web Article (in Polish) English translation of interview with news reporter with bank information My heart goes out to the family, to be honest these stories make it very difficult for me to function due to the "what if" factor of being a parent. I'm holding back tears right now in fact.
Regardless... It hurts to know that instead of someone sending that forwarded email with the for every forward 3 cents hoax... they could have spent 5 minutes like I did and actually find the donation information, and send that instead.
