Ginny's Birthday

Aug 11, 2011 23:48

“Come on, Caley, we need to finish,” I tell her as I finish blowing up and tying another balloon. I had to do it the muggle way after three exploded when I used magic.

“What more is there left to do?” she asks, glancing over from where she has finished with a streamer.

I glance around. She might be right. We have a cake in the kitchen, gifts on her table and we decorated Ginny’s flat for her birthday. It wasn’t too hard to get in, considering I used my wand though I know I have an extra key somewhere too.

“Now, we just need the hats,” I answer, pulling on mine.

“You look ridiculous,” she laughs.

“And you will too,” I respond.

“Yeah yeah...” she shakes her head, pulling it on hers as well.

Caley and I both turn when we hear movement by the door.

We wait until the door opens then grin. “Surprise!” we both announce.

Ginny stops and blinks looking at Caley and I before she starts to smile, “Uhh...wow...thank you? I...wow. This sure is a surprise. You two planned on getting me out of the flat didn’t you? Sneaky!”

“Well, you knew we were coming over, we just never said when,” Caley smiles.

“How devious.” She replies with a grin. “The place looks great though. This must have taken some time.”

“It was worth it,” I answer. “Need us to leave and come back later?”

“...No? Why would I? I never make plans for my birthday anymore since it’s...pretty much just another day to me. Besides...I wouldn’t kick you out after all this work.”

“Well, we did mention we were coming,” Caley points out, then gives her a party hat.

“Yes, you did. I had warning. I just didn’t expect this, I reckon.”

“We can wait if you want to change or something,” I tell her.

“No. it’s fine. I just came from lunch, so it’s not like I just came from practice. I know you didn’t just come here to decorate my flat and make me wear a hat, so what’s the plan?”

“We’re celebrating your birthday,” Caley states like it’s obvious.

“Well, yes, but what specifically?”

“Well, we have food, but you just had lunch. But we have cake and ice cream and gifts,” Caley answers.

“I’ll never say no to cake and ice cream. Actually, I won’t say no to food ever...but you didn’t need to get me gifts...honestly.”

“It’s your birthday though,” I answer.

“Still...doesn’t mean I expect people to get me presents.”

“Well, you got some anyway,” I tell her. “So cake and ice cream or gifts first?”

“Food, definitely.” She answers firmly.

I go into the kitchen and use my wand to light the candles before carefully carrying it to the table where Ginny and Caley are now waiting.

“You guys really did too much...you didn’t need to do all this...honestly.”

“We wanted to,” I answer.

“I really do appreciate it...not sure if I said that before or not.”

“You did, but we don’t mind hearing it,” Caley responds. “And I guess we should sing before you blow out the candles.”

I see her ears start to turn red, “You don’t have to...but if you insist...go ahead.”

Caley starts to sing and I join in just a moment later.
