I offered to help Oliver and Katie by staying a bit longer, though Katie is fully recovered. However, with all the games Oliver had all over Europe and Katie going with him someone had to stay to take care of the pets. Now that the World Cup is over, I should be looking for a new place. It’s been good though. Kash and I get along, though it

She nods and slowly gets up. “Merlin, that has some lingering effects. But I think you need more wards. She was able to disapparate. And I would suggest telling the Aurors. I did get a good look at her if that helps.”
"Aurors won't be interested," I answer, "She's breaking laws but not with dark magic...um...if someone could place a floo call to Poliakoff Specialties, tell Nicolas I could use a hand here...once I know this place is safe then we'll call the MLEs."
“I can,” Oliver offers. “Then maybe we can figure out what she took.”
"What she took doesn't worry me, it's what she might have left," I admit. Hearing a roar from the fireplace in the other room I look up as Nicolas enters just a moment later.
He raises an eyebrow at me. “Something up?”
“We had a break in...we think it’s the same girl that stabbed me before,” I tell him, relieved he’s here. His presence is comforting, though not the same way Oliver is. Nicolas being here makes this feel like a job, rather than a personal attack. “She attacked Megs...she’s ok but this psycho’s already tried to kill me once and I’m not a rune expert. I can check for curses but if you could just look over the place while we wait for the MLEs?”
His face darkened briefly when I mentioned the attack and Nicolas’s gaze goes over to Megan and does a once over, before his gaze flickers back over to us. “They won’t be able to do anything,” he says with his usual disdain towards MLE’s. “But I can look over the place, just give me a few moments.”
“Thanks,” I tell him, as he starts checking for rune traps. It’s a long shot, it takes specific expertise to set curses and traps for more long term effect rather than an instant dueling curse, but I don’t want to take any risks. I wonder if he’s right about the MLEs, they haven’t found her since I was stabbed, it’s unlikely they’ll have much more luck here but they definitely can’t do anything if they don’t know about it.
As Nicolas checks for rune traps I do my own tests for curses, being careful not to touch or move anything that can be avoided in case the MLE’s need to do their own tests.
I hear Nicolas talk to Oliver for a moment and then he goes into another room, coming out a couple minutes later. “Nothing. But can I make a suggestion of a couple rune wards to protect your place?”
I’m just about reaching the same conclusion with the curse-check, and I nod, “That was actually the other favour I was going to ask...it would probably be better after the MLE’s are finished so the place isn’t disturbed but if you wouldn’t mind...”
“I don’t mind. Either Nadia or I can do a couple rune wards. I’ll send her over if I can’t.”
“Thanks,” I give a relieved smile, “I’ll let you know when the MLEs are done making this place more of a mess.”
I watch as Nicolas disappears into the flames, "We're all clear. He'll come back later in the week once the MLE's have finished here to upgrade the wards...we should try and figure out what she took...Meg could you call the MLEs please?"
