I am reading my book when I see a note flutter from above me and land softly in my lap. Sparrow...Fancy a long romantic walk or a broom ride tonight? I can bring a picnic. Not too many warm nights like this left before I have to go back to Hogwarts. Your odd coloured raven.
I look over the top of the book and see Charlie smirking at me, his eyes full of merriment.
"A picnic?" I ask with a smile.
"If you don't mind bread and cheese and wine and a few apples, I think I can manage it." He grins again.
"That sounds good to me. When are we going? Now?" I am still in my work clothes, though I have slipped off my shoes, so I will have to change if we are going to do either of those things.
"Give me ten minutes to put the picnic together, and then we'll go. How's that?"
"That sounds good. I just have to change first," I get to my feet, setting my book down.
Charlie heads through the kitchen, putting the picnic together. I hear him call out: "Brooms or walking?"
"I haven't been on my broom in a long time."
"I doubt you've forgot how to fly it . . . but I'm game with whichever you choose," he hollers back.
"Let's go flying," I call back to him as I go into the bedroom and change into muggle jeans and a short sleeve shirt.
I meet Charlie in the living room and he's carrying a small basket and a couple bungee cords. "To hold it on my broom, since it doesn't have a carrying rack," he explains.
"Alright." I go to the closet and take out our brooms. "We leaving from here or apparating somewhere else to start?"
"We can leave from here, or we can apparate up to the highlands and have our flight up there. Actually, I think the highlands would be beautiful right now."
"Alright. Do you need me to carry anything?" I offer as I get out a light jacket, in case I need that as well.
"Just hold my arm. We'll apparate together to the highlands, then have a nice fly and a picnic...Oh, maybe you do need to carry something. A blanket to have the picnic on."
