Let's see. What's happened since I last seriously posted?
Peta and I moved into our apartment. I don't have photos for you, yet. The apartment currently looks lived in, so I need to tidy a bit before you can see it. We don't have pictures for the walls, so it's still very bare looking.
Shortly after moving in, we got married. That comes with pictures.
Here's her dad escorting her out.
Our marriage commissioner was Ellen Grant. She was great to us, although she never remembered to use the microphone for the video.
Here's the rest of the wedding party helping us sign the register. Ally and Rina were bridesmaids, and Andrew and Andy were my groomsmen.
We went out to Shannon Falls for the pictures. People kept stopping Peta to take photos of her in her dress. She looked (and still looks) amazing.
There are a lot more shots than just this, but like having everyone together like this.
We decided to take a few silly ones. We got a lot of odd looks that day. I like that I look like a Yakuza boss.
Peta looks good as a mermaid. We had some with the rest of the wedding party as well, but the angle makes them all look like giants.
This was the trick we used to make the photos unique for us: an empty frame. It could not have gone better. I suspect I'll have to post the whole lot on Facebook now, to go along with the mustache pictures. There are some really good ones."
After getting married, I worked at Quest a little as a camp instructor, and Peta settled into her new job at the optometrist, which has since had more ups and downs than a yo-yo championship.
As the summer ended, we started to worry because I still didn't have a proper job. I had applied for every teacher posting I could. Then I began applying for other jobs around town - anything I figured I could turn my hand to. Nothing. August and September were rough months, while we stretched our budget as far as we could, and struggled to get the mortgage and bills paid. I got on the substitute teacher list, but only got three days of work in all of September, since everyone was healthy.
October has picked up a lot, and we're starting to relax a little. Everything is still tight, and we need to stay careful, but it's not as frightening as it had been before. I suppose most young couples go through times like this. We both hope things will keep getting better from here.
On a much lighter note, my abundant spare time while waiting for the district to call me in has given me time to work on some Rhinocerous. I got it into my head recently to try drawing Camelot. Honestly, I think Camelot would have looked a heck of a lot better than this one, but it's not bad for a first try.
Arthur: There it is! Camelot
Bedivere: Camelot!
Lancelot: Camelot!
Patsy: It's only a model.
This is the keep. The yellow dome is the round table chamber, and Merlin's tower is just behind it.
I'm pleased with how the stained-glass windows came out. I'm working on an interior for this chamber, but the carvings on the table are giving me some trouble.
Merlin's tower is based on an actual tower I found on an image search. It looks a little out of place with the rest, which I'm not happy with, but Merlin wouldn't want just an ordinary tower.
This one gives good detail on the flags and pennants, which I'm extremely pleased with. The ripple effect in the cloth just happened to work beautifully on it's own.
I'd really like to make this more realistic in the future, so I'm still experimenting with some of it. I'll post if anything new comes up.">
And I think my recap is about done. Awesome. Hopefully I can keep up better now.>
