Of Hauntings

The grade 7's at my school put together a haunted house yesterday, and invited the younger grades to come try it out.  Most of my grade 4's (sans a single J.W.) were game.  We took them up, and they were lead through in groups of four.  No sooner had the door closed than we started hearing blood-curdling screams and shrieks of terror, so I knew it had to be good.  Two groups of girls at the end demanded that I come with them, which I was very much hoping for.

My ears are still ringing a bit.

It was cool.  They had a strobe light, smoke machines, creepy chanting, a graveyard, a guy with a perpetually-bleeding skull, and a table of the usual 'eyeballs', 'brains', and 'intestines', but with a head that jumped out and screamed at you when you got close.

One little girl kept a death grip on my hand through the whole thing.  If she hadn't been such a tiny thing, I wouldn't be able to type this now.

As for tonight, my family has carved 12 pumpkins this year (Facebook link here), four of which are newbies, as both Peta and Lukas are celebrating their first ever Halloweens.  We're going to hang out at my parents' house, dispensing treats and hopefully playing something like Darkwatch to keep the mood.
